Service of Geology and Mines (SERNAGEOMIN) reports a new cycle of increased of energy seismic signals. After the last eruptive event registered on 3 March, the activity of the massif has been unstable, so he stayed in orange alert.
In the latest news on data collected between 8 and 9 April the SERNAGEOMIN reports recording an increase in tremor signals, mainly associated with the dynamics of fluids inside the volcano. The reduced shift values (DR , parameter indicating the size of the seismic signal at source) increased from 2.5 cm2 to 5.5 cm2 .These seismic signals were accompanied by acoustic signals, suggesting an intermittent Strombolian eruptive activity in the crater with the generation of glow at night.
The lava lake persists near the surface at a temperature of about 1100 ° C, with the formation of a nascent pyroclastic cone inside the crater.
During this period, 87 events Long Period type (LP, seismic signal associated with the fluid dynamics inside the volcano), with local quantities equal and below 1.5 ML were recorded. During an overflight on April 9 , it was observed that the lava lake continues near the surface with a temperature of about 1100 ° C, with the formation of a nascent pyroclastic cone located inside the crater.
Therefore, the alert level remains at ORANGE, according to the protocol which means “probable eruption in days or weeks.”

JMA reported that, based on seismic data, the eruption from Asosan’s Nakadake Crater that began on 25 November 2014 continued during 30 March-3 April. A plume rose 900 m above the crater rim and incandescence from the vent was observed at night.
Field surveys confirmed that rumbling originated from the active vent. High-amplitude tremor continued. The Alert Level remained at 2 (on a scale of 1-5).
