Calbuco, Chili :

In the last 24 hours, the volcano continued to record seismic activity associated with the movement of fluids, with signal sequences of tremor in dominant frequencies between 0.7 to 1 Hz, and compensated values DR [parameter indicating the size of the seismic signal at source] of less than 10 cm2, values considered low. Nine long period type events have been reported, with local values (measurement of the size of earthquakes based on the amplitude characteristics of the seismic signal] of wavelength equal to 1.6 and lower displacement (DR) of less than 12 cm2, values which are moderate.
Regarding the type of VT seismicity [associated with rock fracturing] 283 earthquakes were recorded with a high-energy event, magnitude Local [ML] equal to 2.3 M located 5.2 km NW of the crater, and at a depth of 8.1 km.


Weather conditions in the area have allowed only to visualize the dynamics of the gas column during short intervals yesterday. It was observed a fumarole of low intensity and gray, due to the particulate matter content, confirming that continuous ash emission, even a bit lower.

This suggests that the sustained activity of the volcanic system continue, which may be a precursor of magmatic processes associated with the emission of lava and / or the presence at the surface of a dome . The volcanic system began a new eruptive cycle hitherto characterized by two main explosive impulses resulting in system instability, which could lead to new impulses eruptive similar .

The processes occurring in the most intense phase of the eruption, and the current instability of the system, create favorable conditions for the renewal of the eruptive activity and therefore suggests to keep the restrictions in an area defined by a radius of 20 km around the volcano. In addition, the unstable pyroclastic material accumulated at the top of the the volcano and on its slopes, as well as the surrounding areas could be remobilized by rainfall resulting in lahars along the rivers that drain the volcano and neighboring basins.

This is a reminder that the activity of Yasur volcano shows signs of unrest, strong explosions can occur at times. Its volcanic Alert Level is maintained at Level 1.
The danger remains on areas in proximity to and around the volcanic crater and on volcanic ash and gas prone areas exposed to trade winds.


Thus approaching the crater is not safe; it would be safer to view the volcano far away from the crater rim to avoid any volcano related incidents.
Therefore, it is recommended that all communities, villages, visitors and travel agents are recommended to seriously consider this information.

Sabancaya, Perou :

The sismovolcanic activity of Sabancaya is monitored by the OVS-IGP through 18 seismic stations in real time (15 + 03 temporary stations). Three are telemetric stations (real time) which are located very close to the crater. During this period, the type of VT seismicity (associated with the fracture of rocks), declined for the fourth consecutive week, recording 35 VT / day. VT seismicity is distributed in a dispersed manner, with a slight consolidation to NNE, located 13 km from the crater. On the other hand the magnitude of the VT remains moderate, with up to 3.6 ML.


Hybrid-type events (designating the magmatic ascent), maintains a very low average of 1 Hybrid / day, similar to the previous period.
LP seismicity, indicating the passage of fluids, in this period, has declined significantly, averaging 66 LP / day. The energy recorded during this period remained in low levels normally seen. No events Type Tornillo (associated with the fluid pressure in the magma chambers) have occurred.

Events of type tremor in this period have increased slightly, resulting in an average of 4 Tremors / day; However, the energy remained at a very low level. The height of the fumaroles expelled by Sabancaya in this period decreased compared to the previous report, reaching 800 meters above the base of the crater, with a low average density. The satellite monitoring system Mirova and thermal monitoring system for SO2 by satellite OMI detected no significant anomaly for that period.
