Special volcanic activity report (REAV)

Based on the analysis of information collected by the monitoring stations installed near the Copahue volcano , Servicio Nacional de Geología y Minería (SERNAGEOMIN) – Observatorio Volcanológico de los Andes del Sur (OVDAS) announces:
Between 10h17HL (01h 17 GMT) on December 12 and 1:09 HL (04h09GMT), December 13, on the Copahue volcano, occurred a seismic swarm consisting of 103 seismic events volcano-tectonic type associated with the rupture of rigid material, located in the North-Northeast, at a distance of 12 km from the main crater at a depth close to 6.0 kilometers.
The highest earthquake energy of the swarm presented a local magnitude of M 3.1 and was recorded at 12h57 HL (03h 57 GMT).

No changes were recorded in the activity of the volcano that is attributable to seismic swarm.
The community of Caviahue (Argentina) reported the perception of seismic events in their area by the population.
At the time of publication of this report, the earthquake swarm continues with lower energy.
The technical level alert remains at level yellow .
