Colima Volcano recorded five exhalations in the last 24 hours
The Colima Volcano of Fire recorded in the last 24 hours, five exhalations that exceeded the 2000 meters high from the summit crater. This volcanic event attracted 12 kilometers from the volcano caused a column of ash 3000 meters high. The Becerrera populations in the municipality of Comala remain on alert for volcanic activity.
« The rains are coming into the volcanic system and are producing more than gassing of which had been seeing, then that’s a possibility, that there are more exhalations if there is more rain on the volcano, » Breton said Mauricio Gonzalez, researcher Volcano Observatory of the University of Colima.
The large amount of ash accumulated on the slopes of the volcano and torrential rain could cause the fall of the so-called lahar, volcanic rock is pulverized and blown away by the rushing water. The researcher said that « with the amount of ash that is deposited in the banks of the volcano there is extreme caution since possible mudflows or lahars in any of the canyons around the volcano. »
The water flowing through the river Zarco comes from the slopes of the Colima Volcano of Fire, its color changed by the high concentration of ash. « This is cafecita volcanic ash and get to roll the river, and all the ash was coming down the river, » said Salvador Medina León, a resident of La Becerrera. The State System of Civil Protection keeps an alert in towns located within 12 kilometers around the volcano.
