In the last 24 hours the internal activity of Cotopaxi is moderate, as shown the seismicity and sulfur dioxide emissions. The volcano has been discovered in the afternoon and yesterday morning, demonstrating the presence of a gas plume rising less than 100 m above the crater.
In the last 24 hours, 32 long period events (LP) and 10 episodes of tremor of low amplitude (TR) were recorded.
From 7:00 to 5:00 p.m. yesterday, were recorded through the DOAS instruments the issuance of 1294t / d of SO2, average value obtained from 46 measurements.
Observations, emissions and ash:
In the afternoon yesterday, the volcano remained clear and steam emissions were observed in the crater. During the morning, it was possible to see slight pulsating vapor emissions not exceeding 100 m above the crater and were dispersed to the west.
No rains were not recorded.
