Special Bulletin of volcanic activity.
Guatemala, March 21, 2016, 10: 30 hours (local time)
Increased volcanic activity of the Fuego volcano.
Morphology : composite Stratovolcano
Location Geographical: 14 ° 28 ’54 “North Latitude, 90 ° 52′ 54” West longitude.
The Fuego volcano has shown a change in its eruptive model, generating low to moderate explosions accompanied by ash plume up to an altitude of 4300-4700 meters. They moved over a distance of 12 kilometers to the west. Moderate rumblings are generated and ash falls in the villages of Aldea, Sangre de Cristo, Panimaché I and II. are reported.
This activity is also recorded by the station FG3, with an increase of the amplitude of tremor (internal vibration) associated with degassing and its duration.
Due to the increased activity, it is possible that in the hours or coming days can be generated lava flows and may be the beginning of a new eruptive phase so it is necessary to take precautions .
For this, the INSIVUMEH recommends:
At CONRED: Being aware of the activity development of Fuego volcano.
At the Directorate General of Civil Aviation: Take precautions for air traffic zones in the Fuego volcano area because the ash particles in suspension move in the direction of the wind.
