Momotombo volcano continues to record explosions.
21 FEBRUARY 2016. The Momotombo volcano, located in the department of León, recorded four more explosions on Sunday 21 February, as reported by the Seismological Network of Nicaragua Nicaraguan Institute of Territorial Studies (INET).
The latest explosion occurred at 03:48 pm, in this case the volcano spewed a vast smokescreen that was raised several meters above the crater. The first explosion started around 12:05 madrugada.En images provided by the cameras monitoring Ineter can see that the giant ejects ash, rocks and gases.
The smoke cleared about three o’clock in the morning. The second explosion occurred at 9:34 am, then another at 24:53 was recorded.
Last week, the First Lady, Rosario Murillo, told the media that the recent activity being experienced by volcanoes Momotombo, Masaya and Telica is “atypical”, according to the conclusions reached experts who arrived in Nicaragua to study volcanoes.
