End of the second phase effusive at 15:00 Saturday, October 24
From 3:00 p.m., October 24, the tremor is not permanent and effusive activity seems to have stopped.
As for the stop of activity on Sunday, October 18, the seismic signal is very noisy.
The OVPF does not exclude any hypothesis regarding the evolution in the next few hours that can be characterized either by a stop of all phenomena or a recovery in activity.
In the afternoon of Saturday, October 24, the weather conditions on site are very poor (presence of clouds).
The flow in place in the night of October 22 to 23, reached the foot of the rampart of the Enclos Fouqué at midday yesterday, a little west of the Piton de Bert, causing a fire. Despite rapid intervention of the aircraft Dash for fight against fire and firefighters on the ground, the fire spread and is still continuing at present.
Because of the danger of fire, the smoke that emerges and the potential instability of the ground, the four following access paths are prohibited at foot traffic:
– Tremblet trail (GR R2), between the car park Foc Foc and Piton de Bert;
– Tremblet trail (GR R2), between the car park Foc Foc and the Forest Road 4 (lower valley) via the Piton de Bert;
– Tremblet trail (GR R2), between the car park Foc Foc and National Highway 2, through ravines Pont Rouge and Takamaka .
– Payet path from Piton of Bert to RD 37.
This fire has resulted yesterday in a lack of information on the site. Indeed, the urgency was then the safeguard of the equipment!
Following the airdrops made in the fight against fire in progress, the image of our camera Piton Bert is « somewhat disturbed« .
