The volcano Rincón de la Vieja presented a new increase in its eruptive activity, which began in late September and in early October.
Specialists of National Seismological Network (RSN: UCR-ICE) recorded seismic signals associated with eruptions, and there are reports of local residents who claim to have heard rumblings and have seen degassing. Between 26 and 29 September , 86 hours of continuous tremor, a seismic signal related to fluid flow and vibration in the walls of the cavities as they are traveling, have been detected.
In addition, there have been sporadic earthquakes of volcano-tectonic origin, which are linked to a brittle fracture of the environmental rocks and an increase in temperature in the upper part north of the volcano.
The Costa Rican Institute of electricity (ICE), said that at least two eruptive episodes took place: the first took place on October 1 on which there are neighborly rapports who heard noises at a distance of 4.5 kilometers from the active crater. The second, which took place on October 4 at 6:27, on which sludge deposits which were generated by the event, were found.
Similarly, on October 9, at 15:40, an intense degassing was reported in the active crater of Rincon de la Vieja, which coincides with a seismic signal.
For these cases, as well as two other events that are not confirmed by evidence on the ground, which took place on October 2 at 1:53 and 2:16, there are associated seismic signals. In addition, minor eruptions on 18 May, 18 June and 21 August 2015 were recorded.
