Sabancaya, Peru : emissions of water vapor and gas that reached heights of up to 1400 meters.

The Sabancaya recorded during the week of 2 to 8 November minor emissions of water vapor and gas that reached heights of up to 1400 meters above the top of the mountain, said the Observatorio Vulcanológico del Instituto Geológico, y Minero Metalúrgico (INGEMMET).
According to the monitoring of these issues, they have mainly moved to the East-North-East.
It was also reported that long period earthquakes have occurred, LP (associated with the movement of volcanic fluids), followed by volcano tectonic earthquakes, VT (associated with the rupture of the rocks in the volcano) of moderate energy. Sporadically also hybrid earthquakes HYB (possibly associated with the ascent of magma) were recorded.

It was also noted that the system Mirova did not report thermal anomalies on the Sabancaya.
Monitoring by EDM and GPS techniques indicates that no changes were detected in the deformation of the volcano.
The SO2 flux produced by the Sabancaya, recorded by the mobile station DOAS remain moderate in the last days.
Monitoring the hot thermal spring « SA3« shows changes in chemical composition, indicating that the hydrothermal system is disturbed by the movement of magmatic fluids.
For these reasons, experts of the INGEMMET recommend at the authorities to implement preparedness actions to improve the reactivity of the population living near the volcano against any increase in the activity of Sabancaya.
They also suggest people to stay constantly informed of the progress of the activity of the volcano.
