Taal Volcano’s seismic monitoring network recorded three (3) volcanic earthquakes during the past 24 hours. Field measurements conducted on 22 October 2015 at the western sector of the Main Crater Lake yielded a decrease in water temperature of 33.2°C from 33.7°C, an increase in water level of 0.75 from 0.71 meter, and increase in acidity of pH 3.00 from 3.12.
Ground deformation measurements through precise leveling surveys on September 21 to October 1, 2015 indicated very slight deflation of the edifice compared to May-June 2015, consistent with slight deflation recorded by continuous GPS since September 2015. Both consistently show a general inflationary trend since January 2015. Carbon dioxide (CO2) emission at the Main Crater Lake decreased to 1566 tonnes/day in October 2015 from 2300 tonnes/day in July 2015.
Alert Level 1 remains in effect over Taal Volcano.
