Visual observations showed no change in the high gas and smoke gusts that rise beyond the walls of the crater. Gas emissions are confined on the floor of the crater as “pits solfataras” with strong smoke intensity.
Seismic recordings showed that volcanic earthquakes (VA, FL and Tremor) since the start of January 2016 saw their numbers increase until early March 2016.
The maximum duration of the vibration amplitude of Tremor increased at the beginning of March 2016, indicating a fluid flow that comes close to the surface. The presence of LF seismic events since January 2016 also indicates that the pressure / pulse of fluid from inside the body of the volcano is greater.
During the period from 1 January to 6 March 2016 the seismic activity is dominated by distant and local tectonic earthquakes. Indeed, the location of KieBesi, is located on the east side of the crest of the ridge of Mayu, where the seismicity is very high. The earthquake felt in November 2015 played a role in the increased seismic activity of the KieBesi indicated by the increase in depth of volcanic earthquakes (VA) and their low frequency (LF) in January 2016. Therefore, is necessary to pay attention to local tectonic earthquakes that can cause a rapid rise in activity.
Based on the visual and instrumental observations and potential danger of eruption, the Kiebesi activity level went from NORMAL (level I) at Waspada (Level II) from the date of March 7, 2016 10:00.
