Based on satellite images, ground reports, and information from PVMBG, the Darwin VAAC reported that during 9-10 and 13-15 March ash plumes from Sinabung rose to altitudes of 3.6-4.9 km (12,000-16,000 ft) a.s.l. and drifted 25-55 km NW, W, and SW.
On March 22, 2016 at 18:07an eruption accompanied by a cloud of hot avalanches with high ash column rising to 2500 meters, with pyroclastic avalanches that came down on a distance of 2000 meters to the East -South-East was recorded. The wind was calm, to the east-southeast.
